It's been about a year since I sold my business in Los Angeles. In the past 12 months, I've been taking online classes through Harvard Extension and traveling a lot to spend time with people I love (family & friends). Currently I'm a bit overwhelmed with figuring out a cross-country move in less than two months, but overall I'm extremely excited for everything I'll be doing next school year. Taking classes about organizational leadership and impact evaluation at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Cross-registering for classes at the Kennedy School and HBS. Organizing an early childhood student group. Designing an independent study for myself looking at early education systems and universal preschool policy. Doing an internship with a Massachusetts early learning initiative. And of course, some fun, non-education things too... Kayaking on the Charles river. Going to groupmuses. Figuring out how to stay warm through the winter... :-)
After a year plus of being fairly nomadic, it's kinda weird to think that I'll be mostly in the same place for a year. It will be nice to not be living out of a suitcase - but I'll miss being able to see everyone! I'm planning two going-away get-togethers (LA & SF) in May - and I definitely want to stay in touch over the next year with people through Skype and other means.
